Meet the Team

Christopher Cheung Christopher Cheung

Managing Director
Christopher Cheung

A true global citizen, Chris has a rich heritage combining Chinese and Vietnamese ancestry with a Vanuatu birthplace. He immigrated to Australia as a child. Driven and passionate, Chris forged ahead in business and built a substantial property portfolio in his twenties. Despite this early success, he remained grounded, maintaining his work ethic, humility and humanity. These values are synonymous with good hospitality, and the stars aligned when C!NC acquired Coogee Bay Hotel in 1991. Chris established himself as a natural leader in an industry he immediately loved.

During C!NC’s rise to prominence, Chris has been recognised with multiple awards for both his professional and community achievements. He was the youngest recipient of the National AHA Awards for Excellence “Hotelier of the Year”, and more recently was honoured with an Order of Australia (OAM) for his extensive philanthropic activities.

Energetic from an early age, he once raced 100m in 10.8 seconds, and now, as C!NC’s driving force, he inspires his team to set benchmarks in everything they do.

Joseph Akle Joseph Akle

Chief Financial Officer
Joseph Akle

In his 19 years helming C!NC’s finance, funding, IT and legal services, Joseph has been integral to the success of the company’s most significant business deals. He joined C!NC after holding senior finance roles for public and private enterprises, including mining, advertising, financial services, and a successful seven-year stint as Head of Finance and Logistics at Nikon Australia. In addition to establishing C!NC’s expertise in hotel management agreements since securing the company’s first in 2007, Joseph has been instrumental in the development of best practice reporting and financial management within the hospitality sector – an industry for which his enthusiasm matches his considerable proficiency.

Joseph channels his skills and energy into a number of altruistic activities outside the workplace. He volunteers his time to the community including holding treasury roles and coaching youth soccer teams. Joseph also enjoys restoring heritage homes and spending time with his wife and three children.

Jane Kezerle Jane Kezerle

GM Human Resources
Jane Kezerle

People are Jane’s passion; she brings to C!NC a renowned talent for building and nurturing exceptional teams. Her career began in hospitality, where she held frontline positions in hotels before moving into corporate and accounting. Jane created her first HR management role in 2010 after an expansion significantly increased the team at epay Australia. She then merged her skills to gain greater operational management experience as the Business Manager for SS&C Technologies before rejoining hospitality as the HR Manager for Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL.

Her expertise in creating strong HR foundations proved invaluable in securing an acclaimed chef for the club’s new flagship restaurant, putting the club on the map as a dining destination. Fresh from this success, Jane looks forward to nurturing C!NC’s greatest asset: its people.

Her personal goal is to visit every country in the world, with her recent destinations including Kilimanjaro and Antarctica.

John Pugliano

Some people rise to challenges, but John thrives on them. Defined by a passionate work ethic, this experienced retail and hospitality professional has turned obstacles into opportunities ever since immigrating to Australia from Italy’s Calabria region in the 1960s. John repeatedly proved himself by working harder and longer than anyone else and became owner of two service stations in his twenties, then a supermarket in his thirties.

Always eager to increase his business skills, he completed a post-graduate marketing degree at 33 and moved into liquor retail, holding senior positions with Woolworths and Liquor Legends as well as owning two stores. Since joining C!NC in 2011, John has brought the insights of a seasoned business owner to the leadership team’s strategic decisions.

John celebrates his heritage through cooking, and the delicious dishes emerging from his home pizza oven ensure a flow of food-loving visitors – including his C!NC colleagues.
